Extraordinaire Woodworks LLC
Custom Designs to Fit Your Space and Your Taste.
Welcome to Extraordinaire Woodworks, specializing in fine finish carpentry and custom artisan woodworking. With over 40 years of experience, company founder, Jack Abrams, started his career in the United States Navy with a tour of duty as a construction Sea-Bees carpenter.
He returned to civilian life in 1982 and worked as an apprentice under master craftsmen in Southern California and Arizona. Jack took full advantage of this rare educational experience to earn the high-status of a master craftsman himself. He then relocated to Prescott, Arizona, in 1990 where he launched Scandinavian Log Homes, a company constructing hand-hewn custom log homes from the ground up and finishing them with original carpentry, cabinets, and furniture.
In the late 1990s after the logging shut down by the U.S. Forest Service, Jack’s reputation and resume offered him opportunity during the Sedona building boom, to become one of the areas’ most preferred finished carpenters and custom furniture builders. His artwork is on display in custom homes throughout the area.
The Sedona Historical Society appointed Jack, as their master craftsman, to replicate and restore key fixtures for the Sedona Historical Museum and Telegraph Office.
Recently, Jack has assembled a staff of highly skilled, professional craftsmen to accompany him with the rapidly rising requests for Extraordinaire Woodworks.

Henry Porter, Master Craftsman
Henry L Porter IV has over 30 years of experience working with wood. He started as a teenager helping his father build the family home that we live in now. He has always been fascinated with woods and the different ways that they look, feel, and even smell.
Henry has worked with master craftsmen all over the states, including California, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, Minnesota, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Henry was an important member of the crew who built a 17,000 square foot custom log home from the ground up and was one of only 3 people who knew where all 98 screw jacks in the house were. (Log homes shrink, so they require periodic maintenance.) He has the skills to mill raw logs into fine furniture. Henry always likes everything to fit, tight as can be! He hates using nails and screws, he prefers to join wood to wood. He has a special place in his heart for repairing and restoring antique furniture or anything with a history. He is especially talented with inlay work. Henry’s catch phrase is “keep smiling” and he always leaves his customers with reason to do so.
