My wife and I just recently moved to the Village of Oak Creek, AZ and have been remodeling our home for months.  Being new to the area and trying to find the right people to do some final, fine touches to our house has been a large problem.  However, one day, as I was doing my daily walk in our residential area, that problem was solved at last.  I glanced over to the driveway of this one house where I saw a parked van advertising “Extraordinaire Woodworks, LLC”.  Boldly going where I never had before, I walked up and rang the doorbell of the house of Master Craftsman, Jack Abrams.  Although Jack and associate Master Craftsman, Henry Porter are very busy artisans, Jack agreed to find time for the both of them to help us out.  Our needs were in the form of finishing up cabinetry and also remodeling three closets, and I cannot stress enough how blessed we were to find these two Masters of their craft.  I must mention that I grew up in a family where my father was a small business owner who also qualified and functioned as his own Contractor/Builder in constructing our three family homes over the years and a couple of buildings for the family businesses.  Moreover, after having spent forty years as an Aerospace Engineer, I feel that I have a very good concept of what it looks like to have excellent craftsmanship and design.  Having said that, because of their demonstrated integrity, reasonable rates for the quality of workmanship and creativity, and for just being a couple of fun good guys,  I my wife and I can reach no other conclusion than to evaluate  Jack Abrams and Henry Porter with a well-deserved “Five Star Rating”.

Extraordinaire Woodworks has been an invaluable partner in efforts to transform my old Sedona house into a dwelling worthy of the magnificent creation surrounding its hilltop perch. I couldn’t have achieved this longtime dream without these master carpenters involved at every step of the (continuing) journey.  Jack Abrams and Henry Porter were indispensable in translating the architectural plans into solid new structures built for the ages. Highly experienced in the construction trades and meticulous in execution, their work was routinely praised by the city inspector!  In addition to master carpenters, Jack and Henry are talented artisans and craftsmen.  Working with reclaimed and barn wood, they’ve transformed the interior of the house– kitchen and bathroom cabinetry and shelves, Dutch and folding doors, wainscot, paneling, window trim, desks, coffee and side tables as well as many other rustic furnishings and features.  All their work is beautiful, well planned and designed, functional, and solidly constructed.  Based on years of a close working relationship with Extraordinaire Woodworks, I can attest that Jack and Henry are true professionals who take great pride in their work.  They’re dedicated, highly dependable and fairly priced given the high quality of their work. Plus a joy to work with! I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Jack and Henry are true craftsmen and a pleasure to work with.  They had to redo my kitchen cabinet installation and trim because of inferior work from another contractor.  The kitchen came out gorgeous.

I hired Extraordinaire Woodworks to add two wood awnings to the south facing wall of my Sante Fe styled home. Since it is a flat roofed home I did not have any shade or protection for the windows. Jack designed the awnings to match my existing exterior trim. He and Henry installed them so as to provide the needed shade in the summer but still allow for the winter sun to shine in. During the install they discovered that the lintels and some of the other interior lumber was rotten and needed to be replaced. They were able to accomplish this and make it look like original. Their craftsmanship is very good. I highly recommend Jack and Henry’s carpentry.

So much so that we hired them to do a much smaller job for us. They completed the job on time and on budget and the work looks great.
